Genealogy Help!

- Stuck on a brick wall?
- Come in to see what we can do to help you.
The Manning Municipal Library has recently received a grant from the Public Library Initiative program. This is enabling us to run a program for the 2008 year called "Remembering our Roots." Every Thursday afternoon you are welcome to come in and talk to our genealogy librarian M.J. She will show you how to use our new microfilm reader and research information on different websites.
A family tree is always a source of excitement and interest for a family today. But with so many sources available, it can be a difficult task deciding where to look.
Immediate family members are a handy source, but with family trees dating back over centuries, other sources can be difficult to access.
If the interest is sufficient, the library will subscribe to the ancestry.com database. There are so many sources where people can look for information, it's knowing where to look that is important.
We also have access to micro-film files from the national and provincial archives, Hudson Bay archives and museums around the country, through inter-library loans.
